Surrounded by 25 acres of magnificent garden, Villa d'Este was originally built in 1568 as the summer residence for Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio. Since its inception, Villa d'Este has been the playground of an Empress, an English Queen and aristocrats, and in 1873 was transformed into the luxury hotel it is today.
In addition to the floating pool (which also features a Jacuzzi) there is an indoor pool and a kid's pool. Eight tennis courts, a squash court, sauna and steam bath, jogging track, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and water skiing round out the activities at Villa d'Este
