I guess it was inevitable. We've had hotels on trains, a hotel in a submarine, and even a hotel inside a harbor crane. So, the recent unveiling of designs for a Jumbo Hostel in Stockholm, Sweden, shouldn't have come as too much of a surprise.

We've all spent nights on airplanes - probably more than we'd like to think about. But spend a night at the Jumbo Hostel, and your feet won't leave terra firma (unless you bounce on its beds, that is).

Currently being built inside a 30-year-old Boeing 747-200 ten minutes walk from Arlanda airport, Jumbo will have 25 rooms and 85 beds. Visitors will be able to choose from inexpensive three-bed rooms with shared bathrooms, or a fancy suite located in the cockpit.

It may sound rather austere, but rooms will boast flat-screen TVs, on which (among other things) you can watch the departure times of planes before they take off overhead. There's also a cafe, if you fancy a nibble and a quick look around the premises.
The Jumbo Hostel opens in December. RM
